I just bought the WizFi630-EVB and tried to start playing around with it. Do I need to download any software such that I can configure the operating mode?

Basically, you can configure the operation mode via serial command or web interface.
In case of web interface, you need just a web browser.
In case of serial command, you can use general serial-terminal-program.
