Does wifi mode matters?

I set wiznet 630 AP client and b+g+n mode. And I also use hostapd create a AP. In the hostapd file i use 802.11n in the config file. Then i see the communication is not quite stable. But If I set 630 only work in 802.11.n, the communication become stable. Can you explain why.

I think that there can be inter-operability trouble with a WiFi station.
Can you check which WiFi station is related the trouble?
