W5500 SN74LVC1G125 buffer purpose

Hi

I would like to know what is purpose of gate buffer( SN74LVC1G125) on EVM board. (SPI Line)

I have 5V microcontroller that use W5500 do I need buffer, since datasheet mentioned is 5V tolerance logic.
