I have a suggestion / request regarding the W5500-EVB-Pico regarding POE.
It would be really nice if the RJ45 connector / magnetics supported POE. I appreciate that adding a full POE module would be too expensive given the low price-point of the W5500-EVB-Pico, but the current connector doesn’t allow for POE to be added afterwards as there’s no centre taps on the magnetics.
I’ve seen one project where somebody took a W5500-EVB-Pico, removed the RJ45 connector and then added a different connector onto their own separate board. It would be nice if WIZnet used a connector which included the centre taps such as the Wurth 7499210121A and brought the extra pins out to a couple of new pads. This would make it much easier to add POE and shouldn’t impact the size or BOM cost too much.
